Our latest research on the state of gender-based discrimination and labor rights in North Macedonia found that women face multiple discrimination, starting with the hiring process, through discriminatory questions during a job interview, and then in the workplace, through lower salary for the same job, disregard and violation of the right to maternity leave, termination of employment contracts during pregnancy and maternity leave, as well as sexual harassment in the workplace.
On International Labor Day, May 1, we call for measures to be taken to protect workers from discriminatory practices and violations of labor rights and to enable the realization of a fair and enabling working environment for all workers.
