The impact of the action is to empower CSOs to foster a positive behavioural change in the society for effective protection of women from Gender Based Violence (GBV) in North Macedonia. The action is focusing on CSOs as crucial catalysators of positive changes in the area of gender equality, which can hold institutions accountable and more transparent aiming in better protection and prevention from GBV with focus on sexual violence. Overcoming the situation of impunity and inadequate punishment of perpetrators is the crucial behavioural change in institutions, impacted with the action. This will motivate victims to report and will reduce stigma and high tolerance of sexual violence as a key patriarchal norm.
The overall objective of this action is: Empowering CSOs to foster a positive behavioural change in the society for effective protection of women from gender-based violence in North Macedonia
Furthermore, the specific objectives are:
- To actively engage and build capacities of women’s CSOs to advocate, monitor and/or deliver services in the areas of GBV and sexual violence for a greater public accountability towards the reform process in these fields
- To contribute toward improvement of public policy mechanisms for legal protection and prevention from gender-based violence with focus on sexual violence
- To build capacities of key institutions for gender sensitive and human rights-based investigation and reporting in cases of sexual violence
This Action is implemented by the National Network to End Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence – Voice Against Violence, in partnership with HERA Civil Association – Association for Health, Education and Research, Coalition Sexual and Health Rights of Marginalized Communities MARGINS and Reactor – Research in Action.
