The economic inequality between women and men in the Republic of N. Macedonia is still very high. According to the official state statistics, 38% of women of working-age are employed, compared to 56% of men1. Most of the women of working-age in our country are actually neither employed nor unemployed and are registered as economically inactive. According to the official statistics, among the economically inactive women, 41% of them are housewives. By comparison, 0% of economically inactive men are homemakers.
